Perlis: The Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, today called on Muslims to strengthen their understanding and adherence to the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad SAW as a fundamental source of knowledge and guidance in daily life. His Royal Highness emphasized the significant role the Sunnah plays not only in acts of worship but also in shaping personal character, strengthening society, and building a resilient civilization grounded in moral and ethical values.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin highlighted the transformative power of the Sunnah during the closing ceremony of the Third Series of the Perlis International Sunnah Convention 2026 at Dewan 2020. He remarked that the Sunnah shapes individuals before shaping society, and it builds society before producing a strong and resilient civilization. Also present at the event were the Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail and the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.
His Royal Highness further urged Muslims to be guided by authentic teachings, distinguishing them from practices influenced by customs or assumptions without clear foundations in Islam. He emphasized that Islam is built upon clear, structured, and authentic guidance, not upon inherited practices that lack proper understanding. He warned that matters not grounded in authentic guidance, even if they appear good on the surface, may cause confusion if not examined with knowledge and wisdom.
Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin acknowledged the role of cultural traditions in daily life but insisted they must remain within the boundaries set by the Quran and the Sunnah, especially in areas where Islamic law does not prescribe specific rulings. The convention, themed 'Sunnah: The Source of Knowledge', attracted significant participation from both local and international attendees, reflecting the growing awareness of the importance of strengthening understanding of the Sunnah in contemporary society.
In his closing remarks, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin expressed appreciation to the organizers and speakers, describing the gathering as more than an academic event but a platform for meaningful exchange of knowledge, perspectives, and expertise among scholars and da'wah figures. He stressed the urgent necessity of reviving the Sunnah in character development and civilization-building to ensure a dignified society and a prosperous nation before officially declaring the Third Series of the Perlis International Sunnah Convention 2026 closed.
