Perlis, Perak, Selangor, Pahang See Drop In Flood Evacuees

Perlis: The number of flood victims seeking shelter at temporary relief centres across four states has continued to decrease tonight. In PERLIS, the number of flood victims has decreased to 256 following the closure of another relief centre as of 8 pm, down from 288 people housed at three shelters earlier this afternoon.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, data from the State Disaster Management Secretariat indicates that two relief centres are currently operational in Perlis, located in Padang Besar and Arau. In PERAK, the number of evacuees at 18 relief centres has declined, with 2,763 individuals from 785 families recorded tonight, compared to 3,002 individuals from 872 families this afternoon.

The State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) Secretariat reported that Hilir Perak continues to have the highest number of victims, at 1,441, followed by Bagan Datuk (662), Manjung (416), Perak Tengah (229), and Larut, Matang and Selama (15). In SELANGOR, the number of evacuees at relief centres has decreased to 712 individuals from 220 families, down from 740 individuals from 234 families this afternoon.

The Social Welfare Department’s (JKM) Infobencana website indicates that the number of operational relief centres has decreased to eight, down from nine, in Kuala Selangor and Sabak Bernam districts. In PAHANG, two relief centres remain operational in Kuantan and Maran, currently housing 28 individuals from six families, down from 32 individuals from seven families this afternoon.

According to JKM’s InfoBencana, 21 victims from five families are being housed at Balairaya Kampung Baru Pertanian, Maran, while seven individuals from one family are taking shelter at Sekolah Menengah Pendidikan Khas Vokasional Kuantan. Water level measurements from the Department of Irrigation and Drainage stations along all major rivers in the state indicate readings below the danger level.
