Kangar: The Semarak Syawal 2025 Special Sale held here is offering essential items at attractive prices between 10 and 30 per cent lower than the market for consumers in the state to stock up for the Aidilfitri celebration. Perlis Agriculture, Plantation and Consumerism Committee chairman Razali Saad said the special sale, organised by the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) in Perlis, at the Simpang Empat Permanent Farmers’ Market near here from morning to noon today, provided 9.6 tonnes of local beef, chicken, fish and seafood, vegetables and fruits as well as local white rice.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, on sale are 600 kilogrammes of local beef, chicken (1 tonne), fish and seafood (3 tonnes), vegetables and fruits (2 tonnes) and local white rice (3 tonnes). During this special sales, FAMA also slots in a Happy Hour Sale of MADANI Combo which includes a chicken, mustard greens, 1 kg of glutinous rice and 1 kg of cooking oil. The original price of the MADANI Combo set is RM28 but buyers are charged RM23 with a RM5 discount.
“This is a step by the government to help the community cope with the cost of living,” Razali Saad said at the special sale at the Simpang Empat Permanent Farmers’ Market (or Pasar Tani Kekal) near here today.
Meanwhile, Perlis FAMA director Mohd Anzara Azizan said they would be organising the special sale again at the Permanent Farmers’ Market this Saturday to help consumers and demonstrate the availability of ample food supplies for the festive season. “For today’s special sale, some 50 traders are involved and the sales is estimated to rake in RM50,000 today, and we expect sales of RM60,000 if the number of visitors remains the same this Saturday,” he said.
