Perlis FAMA Initiates Merdeka Celebration Sales to Boost Economic Benefits

Kangar: National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) 2026 is being marked in a unique way this year as the Perlis Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) focuses on ensuring continued economic benefits for the people by offering essential goods at reduced prices. In an effort to support local agricultural entrepreneurs and production, Perlis FAMA director Mohd Anzara Azizan announced the launch of the Merdeka Celebration Sales Programme.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the programme is taking place on August 29 and 30 at three different locations in the state. Consumers can expect savings of up to 30 percent on selected items through the MADANI Agro Sales. Notably, 300 sets of MADANI Combos, which include a five-kilogramme bag of imported rice and a tray of chicken eggs, are being offered at RM21 instead of the usual RM30.

Mohd Anzara highlighted that the programme is being held at the Simpang Empat Permanent Farmers' Market (PTK) today, followed by the MAIPs Dataran Farmers' Market on August 29 and the Al-Istiqamah Mosque Farmers' Market on August 30. He emphasized the dual goals of strengthening FAMA's connection with the local community and providing more affordable access to essential goods and local agricultural products.

In a symbolic celebration of the 69th National Day, 69 sets of MADANI Combos were made available at RM16 during a Happy Hour Sale at the PTK Simpang Empat event. This initiative is part of a series of 89 MADANI Agro Sales conducted throughout Perlis, which, as of today, have provided a total savings value of RM286,000 for consumers and involved 496 entrepreneurial participants.

The sales have benefited approximately 329,600 consumers, demonstrating their effectiveness in alleviating living costs. Mohd Anzara also noted the significance of PTK Simpang Empat as a platform for connecting agri-entrepreneurs with consumers and hosting various community programmes.

Additionally, Perlis FAMA has partnered with Sekolah Kebangsaan Simpang Empat to foster student involvement in entrepreneurship and agro-food sectors, offering sales lots for marketing fertigation crops and food products.
