Perlis: Perlis is looking to further strengthen its tourism sector through the transformation of the Nakawan Range into 'Royal Nakawan', slated for launch in October. Menteri Besar Abu Bakar Hamzah said the Perlis state government would form a Royal Nakawan Development and Coordination Committee in collaboration with the State Forestry Department to drive the initiative.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Abu Bakar stated that under the Royal Nakawan development plan, the state government is planning to build a 26-kilometre (km) cable car network across the range, which is expected to further boost the state's tourism sector in the future.
He highlighted that the initiative is expected to turn the Nakawan Range into a new tourist attraction in the country, alongside Langkawi, helping to elevate Perlis as a destination with new and attractive tourism products. 'In the Nakawan Range, we have discovered caves and many interesting sites for visitors to explore. This is a new opportunity. I am not saying people are not interested in going to Langkawi, it has long been a popular destination. This is an innovation for tourism in Perlis,' Abu Bakar said.
