Perlis Declares Jan 1, 2026 As Occasional Holiday

Perlis: The Perlis State Government has declared January 1, 2026, as an occasional holiday, in accordance with the Holidays Act 1951 (Act 369). This announcement comes as a gesture of appreciation to the people of Perlis and the civil servants for their contributions to the successful organization of the state-level 2026 New Year celebration carnival held on December 31, 2025.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Perlis Menteri Besar Abu Bakar Hamzah stated that the declaration was made with the consent of the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail. The aim of this announcement is to ease the plans of the people and encourage participation in the carnival, allowing them to make necessary arrangements.

The statement regarding the holiday was shared today on the official Facebook page of the Perlis State Secretary's Office, highlighting the state's dedication to acknowledging the efforts of its citizens and civil servants.
