Arau: Perlis has the potential to become the 'Second Dubai' due to its strategic location bordering Thailand and its growing economic and tourism prospects, said the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail. Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin shared his vision during a state investiture ceremony at Istana Arau held in conjunction with his 83rd birthday celebration.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Raja of Perlis emphasized the state's potential for development, comparing it to Dubai's transformation over the past 50 years. He highlighted the Perlis Inland Port (PIP) as a key project that could drive this growth. However, he stressed that both the people and the government need to work diligently to achieve this ambitious vision.
Reflecting on efforts from a decade ago, His Royal Highness noted the success in attracting tourists to Perlis, citing the state's unique attractions and culinary offerings as key draws. He expressed optimism that with enhanced marketing and additional attractions, Perlis could further increase its appeal to tourists.
At the investiture ceremony, the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, was among 24 distinguished award recipients, receiving the Darjah Kebesaran Seri Setia Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail (S.S.S.J). The Raja of Perlis also conferred honors on other members of the royal family and notable figures, including the Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar.
