Kangar: Job seekers have been urged to be more open to challenges, by considering employment opportunities beyond their home states, rather than limiting themselves to local job options. The Social Security Organisation’s (Perkeso) Employment Insurance System (SIP) Office head, Datuk Asri Ab Rahman, emphasized the importance of flexibility in job selection for long-term prospects and stability.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Asri highlighted that job mismatches often occur due to candidates’ reluctance to relocate, although such cases are relatively isolated and specific to certain states. His remarks were made during the opening ceremony of the MYFutureJobs Career, Education, and Entrepreneurship Carnival – Perlis 2025.
The two-day career carnival, inaugurated by Perlis State Secretary Datuk Rahimi Ismail, aims to enhance employment opportunities. Perkeso, in a statement, announced that 74,576 job seekers nationwide have secured employment through collaborative placement programs, reflecting a commitment to improving job prospects and offering hope for the future.
Additionally, from January to June 13, Perlis Perkeso conducted 33 open interview programs, facilitating employment for 522 individuals. Fourteen individuals were granted Perkeso benefits amounting to RM239,732.90 during the carnival’s opening ceremony. These benefits, provided under the Employees’ Social Security Act 1969 and the Self-Employed Social Security Act 2017, cover various categories such as temporary disability, permanent disability, Survivors’ Pension, and Invalidity Pension.
