Kuala lumpur: The PERDA Advanced Technical Institute (PERDA-TECH) has maintained its strong track record as a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) centre, achieving a graduate employability rate of 82 per cent for its 2024 cohort. Rural and Regional Development Ministry deputy secretary-general (Development) Datuk Dr Roslan Mahmood highlighted this accomplishment at the 14th PERDA-TECH Convocation Ceremony, emphasizing the institution’s role in producing skilled and semi-skilled workers aligned with industry demands and national aspirations for economic growth.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, PERDA-TECH has, over the past 36 years, expanded access to skills-based education by offering various industry-recognized programs for rural youths and those unable to secure places at public or private higher learning institutions. At the recent convocation ceremony, 415 graduates received their diplomas and certificates, further testament to the institution’s impact.
Roslan noted that the institution currently offers 19 programs ranging from certificate to diploma levels, including new courses like the Diploma in Creative Fashion Technology to enhance students’ academic pathways. PERDA-TECH also provides high-impact upskilling programs, such as Underwater Welding and Cutting Training through its Centre of Advanced Skill (CoAS), which opens doors to high-income career opportunities. Notably, 30 participants have completed this program, with a woman participant being named the best trainee.
In terms of innovation, Roslan mentioned PERDA-TECH’s achievements in 2025, including accolades such as two gold, seven silver, and two bronze medals at the i-CompEx Competition, along with successes at INNOZILLA USM and i-RITEC UTHM. The institution’s V2Go project was also selected for the TVET Excellent Award, underscoring its capability as a high-skills reference center in the northern region.
