IPOH: Perak has significant potential to become a major contributor to the national economy, Economic Affairs Minister Rafizi Ramli stated. He highlighted several key projects at both the federal and state levels, such as the Lumut Marine Industrial City (LuMIC), Perak Halal Industrial Park (Perak HIP), Silver Valley Technology Park (SVTP), Kerian Integrated Green Industrial Park (KIGIP), and the Automotive High Technology Valley (AHTV), as indicators of the state’s economic potential.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Rafizi emphasized the strategic development planning of these industry nodes, which are positioned in the north, central, south, and west of the state. These projects are national-scale initiatives with the capability of fostering industry clusters. He also noted Perak’s strong workforce foundation, suggesting that with coordinated planning between the Perak and Federal Government to enhance infrastructure, Perak possesses comprehensive industrial planning across its regions.

Rafizi expressed
optimism that within the next two to three years, as more projects reach physical completion, Perak could improve its standing in terms of national economic contribution. Currently, Perak ranks as the seventh largest contributor to the national GDP, but Rafizi believes that with the existing development plan, the state could surpass others in its economic contributions.
