Greentown: The Perak Social Welfare Department (JKM) is currently attempting to locate the family of an elderly man who is believed to have been residing at a bus stop across from a health clinic in Greentown.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Salbiah Mohamed, the State Women, Family, Social Welfare, Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development Committee chairman, stated that the National Registration Department (JPN) has been requested to confirm the man's citizenship status. "So far, there has been no decision yet. He is still in hospital receiving treatment and has been diagnosed with a mental health condition," she informed reporters following a mock cheque presentation to 12 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) totaling RM80,000 at the Perak Sejahtera 2030 Human Capital Empowerment and Lifelong Learning programme.

Datuk Salbiah further elaborated that the man had previously resided in various locations, but his deteriorating condition necessitated intervention. She stated that she had instructed JKM to assist the man after his situation gained attention on social media.

Meanwhile, Ipoh Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah mentioned in a statement that the Ipoh City Council (MBI) had executed monitoring and coordinated actions at the site, which required comprehensive cleaning. MBI conducted cleaning and washing operations starting at 9 am today, targeting bus stops along Jalan Raja Musa Aziz and Jalan CM Yusuf, as well as the pavement beside 7-Eleven. The city council plans to continue monitoring these hotspots to maintain cleanliness and ensure public facilities are kept in good condition.
