Perak: The Perak Health Department (JKN) is prioritising the upgrading and refurbishment of ageing hospitals across the state under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP). Perak Health Director Datuk Dr Feisul Idzwan Mustapha highlighted that the main focus is on upgrading facilities that have deteriorated and are no longer suitable for staff and patients.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Feisul emphasised that many of the facilities in Perak, including Malaysia's oldest hospital located in Taiping, require ongoing repairs. These repair projects have been incorporated into the 13th Malaysia Plan and future planning, with a specific blueprint already drafted to address these needs. Dr Feisul made these remarks after officiating the MMA National Convention and Scientific Congress 2016, which aims to tackle challenges facing the healthcare workforce in maintaining the sustainability of the national healthcare system.

The convention, which began today and runs until Friday, gathers about 1,000 participants, including private medical practitioners, healthcare industry leaders, and dignitaries from Malaysia and abroad. It serves as a platform to discuss pressing issues in the healthcare sector.

Additionally, Dr Feisul announced the expected completion of multi-level parking facilities at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital, Taiping Hospital, and Seri Manjung Hospital by early next year. These facilities are being developed to address parking shortages and alleviate congestion experienced by patients and visitors. Discussions with a private company are currently underway to establish these parking solutions due to space constraints at all three hospitals.
