Perak Allocates RM300,000 To Boost Digital Creative Talents

Perak: The Perak government has allocated RM300,000 through the Perak Creative Fund to help youths and local creative talents build careers in the fast-growing digital creative industry. State Education, Higher Education, Youth and Sports Committee chairman Datuk Khairudin Abu Hanipah said the initiative aims to produce more young creators who are able to generate their own income through content creation, film, music, and digital arts.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the fund is channeled through People of Remarkable Talents (PORT), a state-backed creative development organization that provides training, mentorship, and financial support for local talents. "Participants are not left on their own after completing the program. They are encouraged to continue registering under the PORT platform for guidance and long-term monitoring," he told reporters after officiating the closing ceremony of the Creative Youth Camp 2026: Digital Arts here, today.

He said those who show strong potential and commitment can apply for the Perak Creative Fund by submitting proposal papers and attending interviews conducted by an evaluation panel. Khairudin, who is also the PORT board chairman, said the fourth edition of the youth camp program received encouraging response, with nearly 120 participants attending out of 130 registered from across Perak.

"In previous years, the program focused on film in 2023, print arts in 2024, and music in 2025. This year, we brought in four experienced content creators to share practical knowledge, creative ideas, and techniques that can help participants produce more competitive and attractive content," he said. He said the effort is part of the Perak Sejahtera 2030 development plan, which seeks to strengthen the state's creative economy by producing skilled creators capable of generating their own income while contributing to local industries.

According to him, PORT had received about 300 applications for the Perak Creative Fund, with selections made based on merit, project proposals, and the potential impact on industries such as theatre, film, entertainment, and digital content. "The fund is open to Perak residents with talent, skills, and strong interest in the creative field. However, applicants must clearly demonstrate their commitment and capability before they qualify for financial assistance," he added.
