Perak Allocates Almost RM100,000 To Open i-SURI Accounts For Single Mothers

Perak: The Perak State Government has agreed to contribute a one-off RM50 to open i-Suri Scheme accounts for 1,979 single mothers listed in the e-Kasih data from the poor and hardcore poor categories in the state. State Women, Family, Social Welfare, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Committee chairman Datuk Salbiah Mohamed stated that a total of RM98,950 has been allocated for this initiative.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Salbiah Mohamed announced that this effort aims to appreciate and provide social protection to women who are single mothers. The government will make a one-off contribution of RM50 to open an i-Suri Scheme account for all Perak single mothers listed in the e-Kasih data from the poor and hardcore poor categories. Recipients who contribute will receive a contribution incentive of 50 percent of their total savings. Additionally, the recipient's heirs will be eligible to receive a Death Charity incentive of RM2,500 after their passing.

Salbiah shared these details with reporters after officiating the Perak State Women's Day Celebration Ceremony 2026, organized by the Perak Women and Community Development Secretariat. She expressed hope that this initiative would provide an opportunity for self-employed individuals to contribute voluntarily and benefit from government incentives, ensuring a more secure future in old age.

Salbiah emphasized that the i-Suri Scheme contribution to single mothers is designed to offer some protection for their family members in the future if any unforeseen events occur.
