Perak Achieves RM45.62 Million Revenue Surplus for Third Consecutive Year

Ipoh: Perak recorded an RM45.62 million revenue surplus last year, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad. He announced that this marks the third consecutive year the state has posted a surplus, starting from 2022, showcasing the capability of state civil servants to maintain recovery momentum after the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, despite global economic uncertainties, Perak’s economy continued to grow, maintaining a growth rate of 2.7 percent, with the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) reaching RM82.6 billion in 2023. Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad shared these achievements during his speech at the Executive Talk and 2025 New Year mandate event, attended by over 700 civil servants.

Saarani highlighted how the state’s financial performance improved significantly, with revenue collection increasing to RM1.332 billion last year, an increase of RM118 million compared to the previous year. He also noted that Perak received the Auditor-General’s Certificate Without Reprimand for the 2023 State Government Financial Statements, placing the state among the top five in monetary governance.

He further elaborated on the state government’s future plans, outlining five key focus areas this year as part of efforts to realize the Perak Sejahtera 2030 plan, advocated by the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah. These focus areas include a sustainable and resilient economy, high-impact delivery systems, nurturing human capital, leveraging technology and innovation, and ensuring sustainability and preparedness for disaster management.
