People Hate Corruption Rally: 13 University Students To Assist In Police Investigation

Kuala Lumpur: A total of 13 university students have been summoned tomorrow to appear and assist in the investigation into the organisation of a rally themed ‘People Hate Corruption’ in the capital in January. Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman stated that a number of students have confirmed their attendance at the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman mentioned that while some have confirmed their attendance, he could not specify the exact number of students expected to testify. This investigation follows the rally which was held to express public dissent against corruption.

On January 24, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said that his party acted as a facilitator to ensure the smooth progress of the assembly. This statement was intended to highlight the government’s role in maintaining order during the public demonstration.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was also reported to have expressed his approval of the gathering. He emphasized his commitment to fighting corruption at all levels, reinforcing the government’s stance on tackling this pervasive issue.
