Penang To Participate In World Expo 2025, Chow Leads Delegation To Japan


Osaka: Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow is leading a delegation of key state agencies to Osaka, Kansai, Japan, from today until Sept 27 to host ‘Penang Week’ at the Malaysia Pavilion in conjunction with World Expo 2025.



According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Penang Chief Minister’s Office announced that the showcase will spotlight Penang’s investment opportunities, celebrate its vibrant culture and heritage, and reinforce its reputation as a dynamic, forward-looking destination on the global stage.



The statement highlighted that World Expo 2025 offers Penang a unique and strategic platform to highlight its economic strengths, innovation-driven industries, and sustainable development initiatives to an international audience. The state will showcase its competitive advantages in the electrical and electronics (E and E), semiconductor, green technology, and medical technology sectors, while also underscoring its progress in sustainable urban growth, heritage preservation, and tourism development.



On the sidelines of the expo, the Chief Minister is scheduled to participate in business forums, investment networking sessions, and government-to-government dialogues with influential Japanese stakeholders.



Chow, who also serves as the Finance, Economic Development, Land and Communications state executive councillor, expressed optimism that Penang’s presence at World Expo 2025 will not only elevate the state’s global visibility but also deliver lasting benefits for Penangites by securing new economic opportunities, fostering cultural exchange, and strengthening global partnerships. He emphasized that Penang’s participation aligns with the state’s long-term vision of attracting high-quality investments, fostering meaningful international collaborations, and strengthening its global brand as a preferred hub for business, innovation, tourism, and culture.
