Penang:Police have confirmed receiving a report from the wife of an assemblyman who alleged that she was assaulted by her husband at their residence last Saturday.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Penang police chief Datuk Dennis Lim Kwang Keng stated that an investigation is underway, with an investigation paper opened under Section 323 of the Penal Code. Police have recorded statements from four individuals, including the assemblyman and his wife, but no arrests have been made in connection with the case.
The investigation paper will be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further instructions, Lim informed during a press conference at the Penang Police Contingent Headquarters. He also refuted claims by the assemblyman's wife that the police had failed to take action on her report, emphasizing that appropriate actions were taken upon receipt of the complaint. The police will also seek medical confirmation regarding the injuries allegedly sustained by the woman.
