PeKa B40 Rebranded as PeKa Sihat to Enhance Healthcare Delivery

Accra:Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil announced that the PeKa B40 healthcare scheme will be rebranded as PeKa Sihat following improvements designed to reduce congestion at public health clinics. These changes were approved by the Cabinet today after evaluating the program's effectiveness in addressing non-communicable diseases.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Health Ministry is coordinating efforts to enhance the PeKa B40 scheme by utilizing additional premises or clinics involved in the program to alleviate overcrowding at public facilities. Further details on these improvements will be provided by the Ministry of Health.

PeKa B40 is managed by ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn Bhd under the Ministry of Health, offering free health screenings and treatment support for non-communicable diseases to low-income individuals.

Additionally, Fahmi disclosed that the Cabinet received a briefing from Transport Minister Anthony Loke on the preliminary findings of the Flying Doctor Service helicopter crash in Long Lellang, Ulu Baram, Sarawak, which occurred on September 8. The crash resulted in the deaths of five people, including four healthcare workers who were delivering services to rural communities in Sarawak. The full report on the incident is still pending.
