Pearly-Thinaah Advance to Indonesia Masters Final with Victory over South Korean Pair

JAKARTA: Top national women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah showcased their skills by defeating South Koreans Lee Yeon Woo and Lee Yu Lim 21-19, 21-16 in the semi-finals of the Indonesia Masters at the Istora Senayan today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Malaysian duo overcame their South Korean opponents in 52 minutes, marking their first final appearance of the year. Despite the victory, Thinaah expressed that there are still areas for improvement. She also expressed gratitude to the Indonesian crowd for their support, which she believes was instrumental in their win.

Pearly acknowledged that their performance dipped slightly in the second game but noted that they were able to regain their momentum to secure a place in the final. The second-seeded pair had previously exited early in the season’s first two Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour tournaments, bowing out in the first round of the Malaysia Open and the semi-finals of the India Open.

In the upcoming final, Pearly and Thinaah will face another South Korean team, Kim Hye Jeong and Kong Hee Yong, who defeated China’s Jia Yi Fan and Zhang Shu Xian 21-17, 22-20 in a 55-minute match in the other semi-final.
