Kuala Lumpur:The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is set to enhance its operational readiness and enforcement capabilities, focusing on addressing complex digital crime threats, by optimizing the allocations provided under Budget MADANI 2027.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail emphasized PDRM's commitment to utilizing the allocations efficiently and with integrity to improve police service delivery. The Home Ministry (KDN) has been allocated RM22 billion, including RM7.1 billion for the procurement and maintenance of security forces' assets.
The budget will also support the construction of the 19th General Operations Force (GOF) Battalion Complex in Cheras and three new police stations in Melaka, Perak, and Sarawak, which are expected to bolster the force's infrastructure and operational capabilities.
To tackle digital crime, Mohd Khalid praised the development of an artificial intelligence (AI) application by the National Scam Response Centre (NSRC) and the enhancement of the Malaysia Internet Crime Against Children system by PDRM's D11 division. These initiatives aim to fortify the prevention and early detection of online scams and protect children from sexual exploitation threats.
Additionally, RM1.1 billion has been allocated to enhance the operational capabilities of enforcement agencies in dealing with complex security challenges. Mohd Khalid also highlighted the increase in allocation to RM2.3 billion for the construction and maintenance of public servants' quarters, which is expected to improve the well-being and motivation of police personnel.
He welcomed various initiatives for public servants and retirees, including Special Financial Assistance of RM1,500 for civil servants and RM750 for retirees, improvements to Ex-Gratia Waris Pukal benefits, and an increase in the minimum pension rate to RM1,350 a month. Moreover, the Khas Untuk Penyandang (KUP) scheme will offer special promotion opportunities to 12,000 officers, alongside improvements in maternity leave and increased allowances for police volunteers.
