PDRM, Singapore Police Tracking Down Cybercrime Syndicate Operating In Cambodia

Kuala lumpur: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), through the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), is collaborating with the Singapore Police Force (SPF) to track down criminals involved in cybercrime based in Cambodia.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Bukit Aman CID director Datuk M Kumar stated that they had received information from the SPF about 27 Singaporeans and seven Malaysians involved in the syndicate, which is reportedly responsible for losses up to RM130 million. PDRM is actively taking steps to apprehend all individuals involved, with the seven Malaysians being placed on a wanted list for arrest and further investigation.

Datuk M Kumar emphasized PDRM’s ongoing commitment to enhancing international cooperation in addressing cross-border crime, which poses risks to security and public order. The SPF had previously indicated in a news report that the syndicate impersonated government officials and was linked to over 400 fraud cases, resulting in losses exceeding S$41 million.

Joint enforcement efforts with the Cambodian National Police on September 9 led to the arrest of 15 suspects, including two Malaysians, in Singapore. Authorities subsequently identified 34 remaining suspects in connection with the syndicate.
