KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) leadership cannot compromise on any misconduct in order to safeguard the nation and the people, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. He underscored the importance of this stance as the country seeks change in various sectors, including economic growth and public well-being.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Prime Minister highlighted that the efficiency and resilience of the PDRM play a crucial role in enabling economic growth, attracting investments, and ensuring citizens feel safe. He made these remarks during the launch of the Independent Police Conduct Commission (IPCC), Police, Friends and Collaborators (IPFC) program.

The event was attended by notable figures including Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul, and Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain. Anwar emphasized that PDRM is a key pillar in maintaining p
ublic safety and security.

The Prime Minister also urged the public to acknowledge the contributions of law enforcers, such as the PDRM, who have been instrumental in coordinating flood relief efforts. He praised the dedication of police officers who continue to serve the community beyond crime control, often without adequate rest.

The IPFC aims to reinforce public confidence in the police force’s integrity by monitoring police conduct, safeguarding human rights, facilitating service delivery, and enhancing the effectiveness of both the IPCC and PDRM. The IPCC plans to strengthen cooperation with strategic partners, including government bodies, non-governmental organizations, and the media, to ensure the successful implementation of the IPFC.
