PUTRAJAYA: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has issued a stern warning to the public against participating in an unauthorized rally planned at the Palace of Justice, citing a lack of necessary permissions from the venue’s owner.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the event, scheduled for tomorrow, has not obtained approval from the landowner, thereby failing to comply with the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012. Putrajaya police chief ACP Aidi Sham Mohamed emphasized in a statement that participation in the rally would be considered a legal violation, prompting PDRM to implement stringent measures.
PDRM has announced plans to conduct roadblocks on key access routes to Putrajaya and enforce rigorous security checks. This action aims to prevent the presence of weapons, offensive banners, or inciting placards associated with the rally. Authorities have erected a fence around the Palace of Justice to deter any unauthorized gatherings at the site.
The rally in question was intended as a show of solidarity for former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak. However, PDRM rejected the application to hold the event, citing non-compliance with legal requirements. The Court of Appeal is set to hear Najib’s appeal on Monday regarding a High Court decision on the Addendum Royal Decree, which affects his house arrest status. Previously, Najib’s attempts for a judicial review and a motion to submit additional evidence on the decree were dismissed by the High Court.
