Kuala lumpur: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is prepared to consider providing a special intake quota for officers who have graduated from the Police Undergraduate Voluntary Reserve Corps (SUKSIS) to join the force. Bukit Aman Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department (JPJKK) Director Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said the proposal, as well as the awarding of merit points, should be considered, taking into account the encouraging response and high number of applications from members of the public seeking to join the force at present.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, PDRM may offer a small quota for officers commissioned as SUKSIS officers, as they already possess basic skills of police officers, such as marching, understanding police culture, and having been taught the basics of the law. Datuk Noor Hisam mentioned that the percentage of the intake quota would be discussed with the PDRM Management Department. Awarding merit points to these graduates could significantly boost their chances of joining the force.
The proposal was discussed during the 2026 Passing-Out Parade and Presentation of Appointment Certificates for the 10th UiTM SUKSIS Inspector Corps at Dewan Agung Tuanku Canselor, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). The event was attended by Selangor Police Chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar, UiTM SUKSIS Commandant Prof Dr Mohd Sazli Sahibi, and UiTM SUKSIS Deputy Commandant SUPT KS Prof Muhammad Nur Jalil.
In addition to the proposed quota, Noor Hisam noted the possibility of shortening the training period for Inspector Cadets at the Police Training Centre (PULAPOL) from nine months to six months for SUKSIS graduates, based on previous intake records. SUKSIS officers already have a foundation in marching and law, potentially reducing the time needed to cover basic training.
Noor Hisam emphasized that the involvement of university students in SUKSIS is a strategic investment in human capital aimed at producing a highly disciplined younger generation knowledgeable about the country's laws. The enhancement of the entry requirement for PDRM cadet officers, now requiring a minimum Bachelor's degree, also benefits commissioned SUKSIS graduates.
Earlier, 549 cadet officers from 12 UiTM campuses nationwide, including Sabah and Sarawak, were commissioned as SUKSIS Inspector Corps officers after completing intensive training over three years. Since the programme began in 2003, UiTM has produced 3,865 SUKSIS Inspector Corps officers nationwide.
