PdPR Remains Unchanged as Schools Continue Regular Sessions, Says Fadhlina

Kuala lumpur: Schools will continue as usual as the Ministry of Education (MOE) has yet to make a decision on implementing home-based teaching and learning (PdPR), said Minister Fadhlina Sidek. She emphasized that the decision was based on past experiences with PdPR, which had affected students' learning and posed risks of them falling behind, as observed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fadhlina clarified that work from home (WFH) and PdPR are distinct concepts, and no decision regarding PdPR has been made, allowing learning to proceed as usual. She shared this information during the MOE's Top Management Engagement Session with media practitioners in conjunction with Ramadan 2026. Present at the event were key figures such as MOE secretary-general Datuk Ts Dr Aminuddin Hassim, Education director-general Datuk Dr Mohd Azam Ahmad, PERMATA Kurnia Centre director Dr Zuraidah Ismail, and Bernama News Service deputy editor-in-chief Mohd Shukri Ishak.

Fadhlina expressed hope that her explanation would address public concerns about the PdPR issue. She highlighted the government's primary focus on recovering from previous learning disruptions and addressing the challenges faced by students during the distance learning period. Fadhlina emphasized that any new education policy would not be implemented hastily, as maintaining the quality of student learning remains the government's priority.

It had been previously reported that the government would consider a WFH proposal for the public sector in response to the geopolitical crisis in West Asia, with a decision expected at a Cabinet meeting tomorrow. Additionally, Fadhlina announced the establishment of a national student leadership council under the Malaysia Education Blueprint (RPM) 2026-2035, which aims to represent students' voices at multiple levels.

The programme aims to strengthen and maintain strategic partnerships between the MOE and media agencies that play a crucial role in disseminating the ministry's policies and initiatives. During the event, Fadhlina also presented Aidilfitri donations to 20 children with autism at the PERMATA Kurnia Centre and broke fast with media practitioners.
