Patton Unveils FiberLink ST2110-TD Gateway for Seamless Broadcast Transition

Kuala lumpur: Artel Video, a brand under Patton, has introduced the FiberLink ST2110-TD, a robust and compact portable gateway designed for real-time conversion between 3G/HD-SDI and SMPTE ST 2110 Internet Protocol (IP) video signals.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Patton announced that the device is now available for pre-order, with deliveries anticipated in May. This "throw-down" gateway is engineered to integrate legacy SDI workflows with modern IP-based broadcast infrastructure, thereby eliminating the necessity for expensive system overhauls. It offers support for one or two channels with bidirectional functionality, providing broadcasters with deployment flexibility across various environments.

Patton Director of Media Transport Systems, Tim Godby, stated, 'Broadcasters should not have to choose between preserving SDI investment or embracing IP communication.' He emphasized the gateway's adaptability, indicating that it offers a strategic, scalable, and cost-effective solution for broadcasters transitioning to IP without disrupting their current operations.

The FiberLink ST2110-TD is designed for portability, facilitating deployment across studio floors, remote production sites, and mobile units without the need for rack installation. For more permanent setups, mounting options include DIN-rail, NEMA enclosures, and 1U rack trays.

The device fully complies with SMPTE ST 2110 standards, supporting video (ST 2110-20), audio (ST 2110-30 PCM), ancillary data (ST 2110-40), and precise synchronization via ST 2110-10 PTP. Additional features include autosensing SDI ports, traffic shaping aligned with ST 2110-21, seamless redundancy through ST 2022-7 protection switching, and NMOS support for networked media operations. The unit is also software-upgradable to adapt to evolving standards.

Four SKUs are available for pre-order, offering single- and dual-channel configurations for encapsulation (SDI-to-ST2110) and de-encapsulation (ST2110-to-SDI), with AC power adapters included.
