PAS Confirms Will Lead Perikatan Nasional

Kuala lumpur: PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang has confirmed that the party will take the helm of Perikatan Nasional (PN) following the resignation of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as chairman of the coalition, which took effect yesterday. He announced that a meeting to discuss a new PN chairman candidate would be held next week, with expected attendance from Bersatu leaders.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Abdul Hadi mentioned that the meeting would involve Bersatu. He stated that it is up to the former chairman whether he chooses to attend the meeting. This statement was made during a session with reporters after Abdul Hadi delivered a lecture at Masjid Rusila.

Abdul Hadi further explained that PAS has several potential candidates for the leadership role, including religious scholars and technocrats, though he did not disclose specific names. When asked about the possibility of him taking the leadership position, the Member of Parliament for Marang cited his poor health as a reason for not pursuing the role.
