George town: Intermittent partial lane closures along Jalan Kampung Relau and Jalan Tun Dr Awang will be implemented for 75 days from tomorrow to facilitate drainage and road widening works for the Mutiara Line Light Rail Transit (LRT) Project. Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) announced today that these closures would occur daily from 8 am to 4 pm until October 15.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the closures will specifically affect the leftmost lanes in various locations. These include the areas in front of Penang International Commercial City (PICC) towards Bayan Lepas, the Petron Bukit Jambul petrol station heading towards Komtar, and the Jalan Tun Dr Awang entry slip road to Jalan Kampung Relau and SMK Sungai Nibong towards Komtar. Despite these closures, other lanes will remain open to ensure continuous traffic flow.
MRT Corp emphasized that the closure is essential for the preparatory works under the Mutiara Line LRT Project's CMC1 Package, which involves critical drainage and road widening activities. Motorists are advised to adhere to the directional signage provided during this period to minimize disruption.
The organization also extended its apologies for any inconvenience caused during the implementation of these works. For further inquiries, the public can contact the MRT Careline at 1-800-88-6782 or email [email protected].
