Parliament to Hold Special Sitting on TH RCI Report

Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that a special parliamentary sitting will be convened on August 11 to debate the findings of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH). He stated that discussions regarding the session had been held with Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar mentioned that the report would be presented in Parliament on August 11 at 10 am, with the sitting continuing into the afternoon. This announcement followed his participation in the inauguration of Maybank's new headquarters at Menara Merdeka Maybank.

The RCI report, published on Wednesday night, has called for a forensic audit into previous investment decisions which significantly affected TH's asset value. The report scrutinized TH's management and operations from 2014 to 2020, identifying several investments that require forensic investigation.

The commission uncovered evidence of questionable transactions and the concealment of information. Anwar's earlier appearance at the Maybank event marked a significant chapter in the bank's 66-year history, highlighting its ongoing advancement as a prominent regional financial services entity.
