Pakistani National Arrested After DUI Incident In Johor

Johor bahru: A 45-year-old Pakistani national was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after crashing his car into a restaurant on Jalan Riang Utama here yesterday evening. Johor Bahru Selatan police chief ACP Raub Selamat stated that the suspect, who was driving a Perodua Kelisa, fled the scene after reversing into several parked motorcycles and a car.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the suspect was later tracked down by traffic police along the Pasir Gudang Highway heading towards Perling. Despite initially ignoring police instructions, the suspect eventually pulled over near kilometre 8. He exited the vehicle and attempted to escape on foot.

The police reported that the suspect crossed the road, climbed a fence, and jumped off a two-metre wall. However, he was detained shortly after, injured and in a weakened state. He was then taken to Sultanah Aminah Hospital for treatment, and a blood sample was collected for further investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code, Section 6(1)(C) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, and Sections 44(1) and 26(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
