Johor bahru: Pakatan Harapan's (PH) victory in the Johor state election is crucial in strengthening the system of checks and balances in the state's democracy, said DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke. He emphasized the importance of PH candidate victories across multiple constituencies to prevent a single coalition from dominating Johor's political landscape and to promote a more stable administration.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Loke highlighted the risks of a single party dominating the administration, stating that such a scenario would leave the government with no alternative, no checks and balances, and no other party to challenge them. He made these remarks while speaking at a DAP dinner event, where DAP deputy national chairman Nga Kor Ming and deputy secretary-general Steven Sim Chee Keong were also present.
PH, which comprises PKR, DAP, and Amanah, is fielding candidates in all 56 state assembly seats in the upcoming election. A total of 172 candidates are set to contest the Johor state election, scheduled for July 11, with early voting on July 7.
