Pahang Sultan Encourages SMEs to Prioritize Halal Certification

Kuantan: The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, has urged small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) entrepreneurs to take advantage of the opportunity to obtain halal certification. He highlighted that this move would enhance consumer trust and help businesses expand their market presence.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Sultan emphasized that halal certification should be viewed as a long-term investment rather than a burden. It guarantees quality and integrity while opening up broader market opportunities both nationally and internationally. He noted the recent improvements in the certification process, which now takes approximately 30 days compared to the previous 90 days, as a significant step in facilitating applications and empowering the halal industry within the state.

In a speech made during the proclamation of the Kampung Simpang Tebing Tinggi Mosque in Jerantut as the Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Mosque, the Sultan reiterated that the Pahang Islamic Religious Department is prepared to assist traders seeking halal certification. His Royal Highness also reminded Muslims to adhere to halal and haram boundaries in all life aspects to ensure societal blessings and well-being.

The Sultan pointed out that the concept of halal extends beyond just food, having evolved into a comprehensive ecosystem that includes various sectors such as business, finance, medicine, logistics, and lifestyle. He stressed that halal is not merely a logo or stamp on a product but a matter of trust, integrity, and life's blessings. Al-Sultan Abdullah called on traders, manufacturers, and others involved in the halal industry to uphold this trust and not exploit the sensitivities of Muslims.

Furthermore, the Sultan expressed his hope that authorities would continue to strengthen enforcement against any breaches in the halal certification system and take decisive action against those who attempt to manipulate it for personal gain.

In an additional message, the Sultan advised women in the state to be cautious regarding marriage, particularly with foreign partners. He noted a rising trend of local women marrying foreign nationals and stressed the importance of these marriages being founded on faith, honesty, and responsibility, as permitted under Islamic law.

The Sultan warned that choosing an unsuitable partner could have enduring negative impacts on family life. He urged women to thoroughly investigate the background, occupation, and capabilities of potential partners before making such significant commitments. Al-Sultan Abdullah also emphasized the role of families in providing advice and guidance, as marriage decisions require careful and mature consideration.

His Royal Highness stated that marriage should be a gateway to happiness rather than a path to adversity, encouraging the selection of partners with sound judgment and strong faith to ensure that households are built on peace and blessings.
