Kuala lumpur: The Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah today launched the 100th anniversary celebration of Sekolah Sultan Ahmad at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sultan Ahmad here. His Royal Highness was accompanied by the Tengku Ampuan of Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah and the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the event, which carried the theme 'Seabad Mengukir Gemilang' (A Century of Excellence), witnessed Al-Sultan Abdullah expressing his hope that such celebrations would continue as part of efforts to strengthen the development of Sekolah Sultan Ahmad. This includes plans for upgrading the school's learning facilities and infrastructure.

His Royal Highness took the opportunity to thank the organisers and donors who contributed to the success of the celebration. Al-Sultan Abdullah reiterated his commitment to education, especially in aiding students from underprivileged backgrounds and those with lower academic performance through various educational initiatives he has established.

The Sultan highlighted the positive impact of the learning approach implemented at the school, which has successfully transformed student outcomes. About 1,000 students from less privileged backgrounds have been able to pursue higher education at various institutions.

Sekolah Sultan Ahmad, originally established in 1926 as Government English School, stands as one of the country's historic educational institutions. Over the years, it has produced numerous prominent figures, including Tun Khalil Yaakub, the late Tan Sri Jamaluddin Jarjis, and Tan Sri Sidek Hassan.
