KUANTAN: Pahang has the potential to develop the biggest safari park among ASEAN countries to attract domestic and foreign visitors, thus boosting the state’s economic and tourism sectors. Appointed assemblyman Datuk Wong Tat Chee highlighted the opportunity during a debate on Pahang’s Budget 2025 at the State Legislative Assembly sitting.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Wong Tat Chee identified a 202.3-hectare forest area in Temerloh as a suitable site for the proposed safari park. He suggested that the state government should take steps to drive tourism in Temerloh by developing the park, which could significantly impact local tourism activities. He emphasized that a safari park would not only attract domestic tourists but also draw millions of foreign travelers, necessitating the development of four-star and five-star hotels in the area.

Datuk Wong further mentioned that with the economic boost and infrastructure upgrades accompanying the anticipated influx of tourists through the safari park, Te
merloh could potentially become the second local authority to achieve city council status in the near future. The assembly sitting is set to continue tomorrow.
