Pahang MACC Calls For Integrity To Be Embedded In State Govt Policies

Pahang: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (SPRM) Pahang branch has urged the state government leadership to integrate integrity as a fundamental aspect of all policies, projects, and administrative decisions. Its director, Mohd Shukor Mahmud, emphasized the necessity for government officers to perform their duties with trust, avoid conflicts of interest, and ensure that every action complies with the law and ethical guidelines.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohd Shukor advocated for the strengthening of auditing systems, internal controls, and governance to prevent corruption. He called on officials to be the bold voice rejecting the culture of corruption and to instill integrity in everyday life. He stated, “Integrity is the most valuable legacy, while corruption is the enemy of progress, and we are all the nation’s first line of defence against this threat.” His statements were made during the Integrity Day and International Anti-Corruption Day 2025 celebration, officiated by State Secretary, Datuk Seri Nazri Abu Bakar, on behalf of Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail.

Mohd Shukor further noted that Pahang has shown a strong commitment to good governance, particularly through the expansion of integrity education programmes across state departments, the strengthening of the Integrity and Governance Committee, and efforts to enhance transparency in government procurement processes.

Meanwhile, Nazri emphasized the achievements of the Pahang State Secretary’s Integrity Unit, which successfully implemented 15 integrity strengthening programmes throughout 2025, including the event held today. He remarked that these efforts reflect the state government’s determination to ensure efficient, transparent administration free from abuse of power.

International Anti-Corruption Day, celebrated globally on December 9, symbolizes global solidarity in the fight against corruption. In contrast, Integrity Day reinforces the culture of clean, trustworthy, and accountable work practices.
