SHAH ALAM: More than 90 percent of the 35,000 participants involved in the MyLesen programme have completed their training and obtained their driving licences so far, said Transport Minister Anthony Loke. He noted that the remaining participants, who are part of the initiative aimed at the B40 group and youths to obtain a licence for free, are still undergoing training and testing, which is expected to be completed before the end of this year.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the allocation for the MyLesen Programme this year is specific to 35,000 recipients nationwide. So far, 30,000 participants have successfully completed their training and testing, and have obtained their licences. The programme has seen significant demand, with the ministry, through the Road Transport Department (JPJ), receiving over 130,000 applications. However, only a portion of these applicants were eligible to participate after undergoing screening based on set conditions. This announcement was made by Loke during the closing cere
mony of the Selangor State Level MyLesen programme at the state JPJ.

Loke highlighted that due to the high demand and benefits of the MyLesen Programme, it will continue next year. The initiative aims to target more B40 groups and youths to obtain driving licences, with expectations for an increase in participant numbers. The ministry is exploring alternatives to raise funds for the programme, in addition to assistance provided by the Unity Government. Loke emphasized that the MyLesen programme is a government effort to benefit target groups by improving their economy and income, while also promoting legal and competent driving practices.

During the Budget 2025 presentation, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced continued government support for motorcycle licence assistance to 15,000 underprivileged youths, including secondary school students, undergraduates, and youths seeking employment.

In the Selangor level of the MyLesen programme, Loke reported that 2,175 out of 2,645 participants have su
ccessfully completed the programme, receiving B2, PSV e-Hailing, PSV Bus, and GDL Lori licences. The MyLesen programme, introduced as part of the Budget 2023 initiative, aims to help the B40 group and youths obtain various driving licences to increase employment opportunities in the logistics, public transport, and tourism sectors, thereby enhancing participants’ income and socio-economic status.
