Over 6,000 Thai Vehicles Crossed Kelantan Border During Aidilfitri: JPJ

Kota Bharu: A total of 6,172 vehicles from Thailand made their way into Malaysia through three main border checkpoints in Kelantan during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festive season, which spanned from March 24 to April 8. This influx highlights the significant cross-border movement during this period.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kelantan Road Transport Department (JPJ) director Mohd Misuari Abdullah stated that the Rantau Panjang checkpoint saw the highest activity, with 2,771 vehicles entering and 2,149 exiting. The Bukit Bunga checkpoint recorded 1,909 vehicles entering and 1,966 exiting, while Pengkalan Kubor noted 1,489 vehicles entering and 1,391 exiting.

Mohd Misuari mentioned that the movement of Thai vehicles was smooth throughout the festive season, with a high level of compliance with regulations. He noted that no offences related to the International Circulation Permit (ICP) documents were detected during this time. However, enforcement continues under Ops Tunggak, which focuses on foreign vehicle offences and has generated RM76,950 in revenue from 277 summonses issued.

He further explained that the offences included not possessing the ICP, failure to display or present the ICP, incorrect display of the ICP, absence of a valid Competent Driving License (CDL), and other technical violations. JPJ’s current primary focus is the Ops HRA (Hari Raya Aidilfitri) 2025, but monitoring and enforcement against Thai vehicles will persist to ensure road safety and compliance with regulations.
