Over 400,000 Farmers to Benefit from RM25.8 Million Profit Distribution

Kuala lumpur: Over 400,000 farmers across the country are set to receive a profit distribution amounting to approximately RM25.8 million, which will be allocated through 212 farmers' organisations. Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu announced that this distribution will proceed through a Special Order for the Audited Financial Year 2024, ensuring it is implemented before Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the distribution aims to safeguard farmers' welfare despite the inability to hold the Annual General Meeting (AGM) within the stipulated period. The suspension of the National Farmers' Organisation (NAFAS) has prevented all farmers' organisations from conducting their AGMs, thereby affecting the usual profit distribution process.

Mohamad made these remarks during a meeting with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security's staff, held in conjunction with Ramadan 2026. He emphasized the importance of this measure in allowing farmers to benefit from their organisations' profits without delay, particularly ahead of this year's Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

He clarified that the Special Order is specifically applicable to the Audited Financial Year 2024. Notably, NAFAS recorded a profit of RM221 million for the 2024 financial year, marking the highest profit since its inception in 1972.
