Kelantan: More than 300 people have submitted applications for gold panning licences in Kelantan since applications opened in early January. Kelantan Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Mohamed Fadzli Hassan said the applications reflected an encouraging response to the regulated gold panning activity in the state.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the locations for the panning activities will be announced this Wednesday. Mohamed Fadzli expressed satisfaction with the ongoing application process, stating, "Alhamdulillah, the response has been very good and applications are still open." He noted that each application undergoes a certain process, but it is efficient and does not take too long to complete.
The state government previously announced that gold panning licences on state land would be exclusively available to Kelantan residents, with an annual fee of RM100. Applications must be submitted to the Land and Mines Office, and licence holders are restricted to traditional methods, prohibiting the use of mechanical assistance or modern equipment. Mohamed Fadzli emphasized that this initiative allows residents to earn a lawful livelihood while utilizing the state's natural resources.
