Over 1,000 Campervan and Motorhome Enthusiasts to Gather in Melaka for Major September Event

Melaka: Over 1,000 campervan and motorhome enthusiasts from across the nation are gearing up to gather in Melaka for the highly anticipated Caravan Jamboree, slated for September. The event is organized in conjunction with World Tourism Day (WTD) and the World Tourism Conference (WTC), promising to be a significant occasion for the tourism sector.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh announced that the event will be a collaborative effort with the Malaysian Campervan and Motorhome Association, aimed at boosting the state’s tourism appeal through recreational vehicles (RVs). He highlighted that Dataran 1Malaysia will serve as the venue for Malaysia’s largest Caravan Jamboree, marking it as a key feature of the WTD and WTC this September.

The Chief Minister noted that the jamboree is expected to draw attention from over 155 delegations, including tourism ministers from around the globe. This influx of international interest is anticipated to enhance Melaka’s appeal as a tourist destination. The official launch of the 2025 Camper Rally Melaka at the RV Park in Stadium Tun Fatimah was attended by notable figures such as state executive councillor Datuk Rais Yasin and Malaysian Campervan and Motorhome Association president Farman Othman.

Ab Rauf also reiterated the Melaka state government’s commitment to fostering the RV industry, which includes upgrading campground facilities and promoting recreational camping activities. He mentioned that lessons from the RV industry in Australia are being considered to tailor caravan sites suitable for Malaysia, particularly in Melaka.

Despite being in the early stages of developing this industry, with just two years in, Melaka has already established four caravan sites, and plans are in place to expand further. The Chief Minister expressed pride in this development, which offers campervan enthusiasts the chance to experience Melaka’s natural landscapes.

The recent four-day event at the RV Park in Stadium Tun Fatimah, which saw over 100 campervan and motorhome owners from different states come together, featured activities that allowed participants to discover Melaka’s tourist attractions and foster camaraderie among like-minded enthusiasts.
