Ops Serkap: Perak JIM Nabs Three Locals

Chemor: The Perak Immigration Department (JIM) arrested three locals during Ops Serkap at the Kanthan Industrial Area in Chemor, on Wednesday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk James Lee, the director of the department, stated that the operation began at 1.25 pm and was conducted in collaboration with the Putrajaya Immigration Headquarters Intelligence and Special Operations Division, as well as the Perak JIM Enforcement Division. The operation concluded at 8 pm and involved the efforts of 12 immigration officers.

The three suspects, two men and a woman, were detained following intelligence work and information obtained by the department. They were arrested on suspicion of committing offences under Section 12(A) of the Passport Act 1966. The allegations include knowingly making false statements or producing documents they knew to be false, to obtain passports, internal travel documents, endorsements, or visas under another person’s name.

Additionally, the suspects are being investigated under Section 12(1)(h) of the Passport Act 1966 for intentionally assisting someone in violating the provisions of the law. Datuk James Lee emphasized the importance of public cooperation in providing information to help combat the issue of illegal immigrants and to take action against employers or individuals who hire or harbour them.
