Kuala lumpur: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has, as of today, inspected 172,479 vehicles nationwide under its Hari Raya Aidilfitri Operation 2026 (Ops HRA 2026). JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli stated that, out of these, 14,455 vehicles faced enforcement actions for various offences involving private cars, motorcycles, goods vehicles, public service vehicles, and buses. According to BERNAMA News Agency, 1,651 inspection slips were issued during the operation, and 289 vehicles, including 43 goods vehicles, were seized for failing to comply with the road ban currently in force. The JPJ has issued 33,402 notices for various offences under the Road Transport Act 1987, such as JPJ(P)22 notices, inspection direction notices, and interview notices under Section 114 of the act. A total of 2,566 major offences were identified, with the most common being not wearing a seat belt, accounting for 761 cases. This was closely followed by overloading, which recorded 353 cases, and carrying loads dangerous ly with 298 cases. These findings were shared by Aedy Fadly during a press conference held at the Menora Control Centre, where he was inspecting the implementation of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri Special Operation. Furthermore, 317 cases were recorded for disobeying traffic lights, and 293 cases involved not wearing helmets. Other significant offences included using a mobile phone while driving (207 cases), cutting the queue (132 cases), driving in the emergency lane (124 cases), and overtaking on a double line (81 cases). An analysis by state revealed that Johor had the highest number of offences at 881 cases, followed by Pahang with 264 cases, and Perak with 207 cases. These offences were mainly related to not wearing a seat belt and using a mobile phone while driving. Aedy Fadly emphasized that the special operation was conducted in conjunction with the festive season to maintain road safety and enhance adherence to traffic regulations.
