Kuala lumpur: Police have busted an online gambling syndicate and mini casino operating from a luxury residential unit in Bukit Jalil here following an Op Noda/Op Dadu raid on Saturday, with 15 individuals, including a Vietnamese woman, arrested. Cheras district deputy police chief Supt Lim Chun How said the raid, conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department (D7) of the Cheras District Police Headquarters on June 13, led to the arrest of 12 local men, two local women and a Vietnamese woman, aged between 21 and 44.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, police also seized various gambling paraphernalia, including a Texas Hold'em casino table, hundreds of gambling chips and playing cards, RM4,904 in cash, a laptop, and a karaoke audio system. "Police also discovered and seized four transparent plastic packets containing white powder believed to be cocaine, weighing an estimated 10.11 grammes. Checks further revealed that one of the suspects is a wanted person in connection with a drug case in Pulau Tikus, Penang," Supt Lim said in a statement today.
Lim stated that the case is being investigated under Section 4(1)(b) of the Entertainment Act (Federal Territory) 1992, Sections 4(1)(c) and 6(1) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953, and Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
In an unrelated case, police arrested a 21-year-old local couple in Sepang near here to assist in investigations into the discovery of the body of a baby boy at the Southern Integrated Terminal (TBS) here. Lim said police received information from the TBS management last Tuesday regarding the discovery of an unconscious newborn baby inside a blue plastic bag in the women's toilet on Level 3 of the terminal.
He added that initial investigations found that the unemployed couple had admitted their involvement in the incident. "Investigations revealed that the female suspect is believed to have given birth in the toilet before disposing of the baby in a rubbish bin out of fear of being reprimanded by her family. The couple has been remanded for four days from last Saturday until tomorrow to assist in further investigations," Lim said. According to him, the case is being investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code for concealing a birth by secretly disposing of a dead body.
