Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has confirmed that it recorded the statement of former Felda chairman Datuk Mohd Isa Abdul Samad on September 17. This action was taken to assist in the ongoing investigations into the Op Fella case.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman stated that the statement was recorded concerning Felda and Felda Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd (FICSB)'s purchase and investment of assets. These transactions are suspected to involve elements of corruption and misappropriation. The Chief Commissioner mentioned that the investigations are ongoing, with the statement recording at Sungai Buloh Prison expected to continue the following week.

The investigation covers a period of 10 years, from 2010 to 2020, and involves the opening of six new investigation papers alongside the continuation of an existing one. As of September 18, MACC has called and recorded statements from 34 witnesses related to the seven cases under investigation. These witnesses include former Felda board members and former FICSB board members.

Abd Halim highlighted that among the seven cases, MACC is particularly focusing on allegations of misappropriation involving the Kuala Lumpur Vertical City (KLVC) project. In connection with this case, MACC has detained two individuals: a former Felda director-general and a former FICSB chief executive officer. These individuals were remanded for several days by the court before being released on MACC bail.

He further elaborated that statements from 30 witnesses, including Felda board members and management, have been recorded concerning the KLVC investigation, which has now been completed. MACC plans to recommend that charges be brought against the two individuals mentioned earlier based on the completed investigation papers. They will seek consent from the Attorney General's Chambers to proceed with the prosecution and other related matters.
