Onn Hafiz Urges Flood-prone Residents To Remain Vigilant, Heed Official Instructions

Johor: The Johor government has urged residents, especially those in low-lying or flood-prone areas, to remain vigilant regarding weather updates and heed instructions from the authorities. Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said his office has received the latest advisory from the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), indicating that a continuous rain warning (alert status) has been issued for the districts of Segamat and Tangkak this Friday and Saturday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, a low-pressure system over the Strait of Malacca is expected to move eastward, across Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, and Pahang, with the potential for prolonged rainfall to northern Johor. In light of this, the state government, together with all security and disaster management agencies, is on standby, monitoring river water levels, preparing logistics, and coordinating response measures at high-risk areas.

Onn Hafiz added that these preparations are to ensure that all necessary assistance can be deployed immediately should weather conditions deteriorate. “May Allah ease our affairs and protect Johor from all calamities,” he said.
