Online Registration Opens for 2027 Year One Students in Malaysia

Kuala lumpur: The registration of Year One students for the 2027 Academic Calendar Year in Malaysia will be conducted online from February 15 to March 31, 2026, through the Ministry of Education Integrated System (MOEIS).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Education Director-General Dr. Mohd Azam Ahmad announced that the online registration will be accessible via https://idme.moe.gov.my. It is open to children of Malaysian citizens who fall into the six-year-old (5+) cohort, born between January 2 and December 31, 2021, and the seven-year-old (6+) cohort, born between January 2, 2020, and January 1, 2021.

Dr. Mohd Azam highlighted that the government's decision aligns with opening opportunities for six-year-old children (5+) to enter Year One starting in 2027 voluntarily, without the need for a screening test. He advised parents and guardians to register an account on the Identity Management System (idMe), update personal information, and submit applications through MOEIS within the given period to ensure a smooth registration process.

Further details on the registration can be accessed through the official MOE portal, State Education Department (JPN), or District Education Office (PPD) websites. Dr. Mohd Azam emphasized that this initiative is part of the MADANI Government's progressive efforts to promote the development and well-being of children, ensuring they are not left behind in education.

Earlier, on January 20, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced during the launch of the National Education Plan (RPN) 2026-2035 that starting next year, six-year-old children could enrol in Year One. However, this enrolment is not mandatory and remains at the discretion of the parents.
