Kangar: A Special One-Stop Centre (OSC) for the Chuping Valley Industrial Area (CVIA) development permits will be established as part of efforts to enhance infrastructure and accessibility in Perlis. Perlis Menteri Besar Abu Bakar Hamzah announced the initiative, stating that in its initial phase, the CVIA Special OSC will be coordinated by the Perlis Town and Country Planning Department (PLANMalaysia) in collaboration with relevant technical departments, including the Public Works Department and other related agencies.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the integrated approach is designed to ensure that every development application is processed in a transparent, systematic, and effective manner. Abu Bakar explained, "The establishment of this Special OSC is to facilitate, coordinate, and expedite the approval process for development and investment applications in the area in a more efficient and integrated manner." His comments came during a press conference after chairing the State Executive Council meeting at Kompleks Seri Putra.
The initiative to set up the CVIA Special OSC aligns with the state government's decision to establish the Padang Besar (Interim) local authority, which is scheduled to begin operations on January 1, 2027. To ensure swift and orderly implementation of CVIA development, the state government has decided to advance the implementation of Phase 1 of the Padang Besar (Interim) local authority. This phase will cover the entire industrial area and the Perlis Inland Port (PIP), effective March 1.
