Muscat: Omantel has launched its AI Centre of Excellence aimed at accelerating adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and supporting the development of scalable digital products across multiple sectors. In a statement, the company said the integrated platform combines infrastructure, data environments, operational expertise and innovation capabilities to support practical AI implementation across industries.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, as part of the initiative, Omantel also introduced an AI Startups Program designed to connect technology startups with the company's operational ecosystem to support the co-creation and scaling of commercially viable AI solutions. Omantel Chief Executive Officer, Aladdin Baitfadhil, stated that the initiatives are intended to support digital transformation and create sustainable value through collaboration between startups and operational environments.
The programme forms part of Omantel's "Everyone AI" strategy, which focuses on expanding practical and scalable AI adoption while strengthening the digital ecosystem. The programme currently involves startups accelerated through Omantel Innovation Labs, including Decoil, Remedy, ORKI, DeepAstra, and Wiya. Through the programme, these startups contribute to the development and expansion of AI products within Omantel's operational and commercial ecosystem, supporting their transition from experimentation to growth and commercialisation.
Participating startups will gain access to Omantel's infrastructure, technical expertise, and partnerships to support expansion across sectors including telecommunications, financial services, energy, healthcare, and government services. Omantel said the initiatives are aligned with Oman Vision 2040, which focuses on digital transformation and emerging technologies.
