KUALA LUMPUR: Balancing the responsibilities of representing Malaysia in archery at the Paris 2024 Olympics and completing her Bachelor of Communication (Hons) at Universiti Putra Malaysia’s (UPM) Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication was no easy feat for Syaqiera Mashayikh. However, with determination and perseverance, the 24-year-old can now celebrate her success as she graduates with a degree.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Syaqiera described the challenges she faced as a national athlete while completing her final year project (FYP), highlighting the pressure from both archery training and academic demands. She expressed her commitment to not neglect her studies for sports, emphasizing the importance of finishing what she starts.

The Segamat, Johor native credited the support from her family, friends, UPM, and her coach for helping her balance archery training with her studies. They encouraged her to attend classes and manage her time effectively. Syaqiera expressed gratitude towards her lect
urers for their understanding and assistance, especially during her final year when managing Olympic training alongside meeting FYP deadlines was particularly difficult.

Syaqiera also offered advice to fellow athletes pursuing their studies while training, urging them to never give up. She emphasized that the knowledge and experience gained will ensure a brighter future.
